What Pharmacist does? And what pharmacy is all about ?

Before I start and say something about Pharmacy, I want to bring some light on its origin. The word pharmacy origins from Greek word phramakon (pharmakeia- Greek word) meaning “Drug” or “Medicine”. It is methodology or a science in dealing or producing drugs and medicines and a pharmacist is a person who deals in Medicine, Drugs of all types to ensure well being of patients.

Responsibilities of a Pharmacist
  • Supply quality medicines.
  • Ensure LAW will be applied in supplying of medicines.
  •  Medicines prescribed to the patients are suitable or not.
  • Advising patients with pros and cons of particular medicine.
  • Supervise the better production of safe and quality medicines supplied to patients from Medical stores.

Here are many kinds of Pharmacists
  • Community Pharmacy: It can be said as Drugstore or Pharma Storekeeper supplying medicines and drugs.
  •  Hospital Pharmacy: Every Modern Hospital has its own Pharmacy Store providing Medical facilities.
  • Clinical Pharmacy : Is as the same as Hospital Pharmacy.

In short Pharmacy is a science involved in making and distributing Medicines and Drugs & It’s not wrong to say that Pharmacist is a Public Servant always committed to do its service, providing medicines to patients, needy people.
